Wintriss Controls Group Acquires ISB to Strengthen Leadership in Metal Forming Safety Solutions!
**Wintriss Controls Group LLC has acquired all assets of **ISB, a Montreal-based manufacturer of safety equipment for the metal forming industry, effective October 1, 2025. Following the acquisition, Wintriss has established a new Canadian entity, Wintriss Controls Group ULC, operating as Wintriss ISB, marking a significant step in expanding its global footprint and reinforcing its position in press and press brake safety solutions.
The acquisition brings together two well-established portfolios of safety technologies. ISB is known for its comprehensive range of light curtains, press brake guarding systems such as the Merlin 4000 PRO, and other advanced safety products designed specifically for metal forming applications. These offerings will now complement Wintriss’ widely used Shadow® Light Curtain product line, creating one of the most complete safety solution portfolios in the metal forming manufacturing industry.
By combining their respective strengths, Wintriss and ISB aim to deliver broader coverage, deeper application expertise, and enhanced innovation for press and press brake safety. The move positions Wintriss as a leading provider of integrated safety solutions for metal formers, addressing increasing regulatory requirements and growing customer demand for reliable, high-performance safeguarding systems.
Commenting on the acquisition, Keith Magnant, President of Wintriss Controls, said the combination of the two companies advances ISB’s legacy while creating a clear leader in metal forming safety control. He noted that ISB’s long-standing expertise in light curtain and press brake guarding technology aligns well with Wintriss’ Shadow Light Curtain platform, strengthening the combined brand’s reputation as a trusted safety partner for manufacturers.
From ISB’s perspective, the acquisition opens new opportunities for growth and innovation. Tony Caruso, Vice President of Sales for ISB, said joining Wintriss allows ISB to continue advancing its press brake guarding and safety technologies while benefiting from Wintriss’ established reputation and customer base in the metal forming industry. He added that the combined portfolio will enable both teams to serve a wider network of metal formers and jointly establish leadership in safety and automation.
Operationally, continuity has been a key focus of the transition. ISB’s existing manufacturing facility will continue to operate out of Montreal, Quebec, ensuring uninterrupted production and support for customers. At the same time, Wintriss plans to further strengthen its service and product offerings. The company has announced that it will begin offering the new Shadow 10 Light Curtains in the first quarter of 2026, and that all Shadow 10 service and repair activities will be handled at Wintriss’ headquarters in Acton, Massachusetts.
Overall, the acquisition reflects Wintriss Controls Group’s strategic intent to expand its safety technology portfolio, enhance global reach, and provide metal forming manufacturers with a single, trusted source for advanced press and press brake safeguarding solutions.
