Our History and Time Line

MTDCNC was founded in 2006 as an online marketing portal for machine and tooling suppliers in the UK. Since its founding, it has expanded its content creation team, launched an international conference in 2022 continues to cover key industry events and technology trends.

    Machine Tool Direct was founded as the UK’s leading online marketing portal for machines and tooling suppliers, the intention to help companies sell more product online.

    2008

    Founder Paul Jones took up working full time as the platform began to attract serious customer attention from machine tool suppliers in the UK but most importantly engineers were buying thanks to our portal.

    Joe Reynolds joined the company with a vision to expand our services into the tooling, workholding and accessory market with his background in selling consumables.

    Machine Tool Direct became, MTDCNC.com as we began to cover more topics and products. At the same time we launched our youtube channel and began the journey of creating video media.

    Our first video hit youtube, filmed by Ian Carver, Paul Jones was at the Engineering Technology Group reviewing a Nakamura Turning Centre with Richard Hughes, still to this day this video remains iconic within the business and set us on our Journey.

    MTDCNC started filming in Europe, our first shoot at Correa in Burgos, Spain as the company celebrated their 60th Anniversary.

    We moved into a dedicated studio facility with office space to enable growth of services and personnel. By this time staff including Ian Carver, Chris Thomas, Lyndsey Vickers, Colin Griffiths, Mark Deadman, Jof Davies and Jake Mitchell had joined the company with all bar one still with us today, plus a lot more!

    MTDCNC launch the MTD magazine, with the appointment of Karl Creamer, MACH 2018 proved the perfect launch pad for this product, which 8 years on continues to be the industries most read magazine.

    MTDCNC was now well established in Europe so it was time to tackle the states, as demand grew from over the pond we appointed Tony Gunn to help us grow this territory.

    Further appointment to keep up with growth included presenters Tom Skubula, Chloe Reeve, Rowan Easter Robinson, all three technical astute and incredibly professional, perfect for our global platform.

    The USA became a big market for MTDCNC, with the territory enjoying this new way of reaching a broader audience. Along came Meaghan Ziemba and Eddie Saunders, Ana Fernandez and Arthur Field. All now cemented as MTDCNC presenters.

    Ashutosh sets up MTDCNC Asia, a region that could prove to be huge thanks to the thriving manufacturing community. Ashu’s team is in charge of developing this area of the globe.
