FARO and Creaform Restructure Operations into Two Dedicated Business Units for Manufacturing and Reality Capture!
**FARO Technologies and *Creaform*, both operating under **AMETEK Inc., have announced a new organizational structure that brings their capabilities together into two focused business units aimed at serving the manufacturing and reality capture markets more effectively. The move is intended to sharpen market focus, accelerate innovation, and create operational synergies while delivering greater value to customers across industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Under the new structure, FARO’s 3D measurement business has been combined with Creaform to form FARO CREAFORM, a business unit dedicated to portable and automated dimensional measurement solutions for manufacturing and maintenance applications. This unit brings together FARO’s established 3D measurement portfolio with Creaform’s expertise in handheld and automated metrology, creating a unified offering designed to help manufacturers make faster, more confident decisions. The company stated that FARO CREAFORM is built around the concept of “practical certainty,” enabling users to reduce measurement ambiguity and improve quality, productivity, and uptime on the shop floor.
At the same time, FARO’s reality capture business has been reorganized into FARO INSIGHT, a standalone business unit focused exclusively on reality capture solutions. FARO INSIGHT is designed to convert physical environments into actionable digital data for professionals in construction, public safety, and geospatial markets. The unit will support end-to-end workflows that span field data capture, point cloud generation, data management, and sharing—forming the foundation for digital twin applications across architecture, engineering, construction and operations (AECO), public safety, and geospatial use cases.
The leadership structure reflects the distinct missions of the two units. Fanny Truchon will lead FARO CREAFORM, with a mandate to make metrology more mobile, intuitive, and impactful for manufacturers. A key benefit highlighted by the company is that customers will now have a single point of contact across the combined FARO–Creaform metrology portfolio, simplifying engagement and support while ensuring continuity.
FARO INSIGHT will be led by Dietmar Wennemer, alongside Virtek Vision. This unit will focus on delivering an integrated reality capture ecosystem that reduces uncertainty in complex environments. According to the company, FARO INSIGHT’s solutions are designed to help customers document and track building progress, digitize crime scenes and infrastructure, and capture large-scale environments such as mines, forests, and landscapes, turning raw spatial data into insights that support planning, analysis, and decision-making.
Commenting on the reorganization, Truchon said that FARO CREAFORM represents more than a consolidation of portfolios. By combining the strengths of two industry leaders, the unit aims to move customers from hindsight to foresight and position itself as a leading force in portable metrology. Wennemer added that FARO INSIGHT’s goal is to digitize the world by reducing ambiguity through hardware and software solutions that help customers better understand, manage, and act on real-world conditions.
The new structure builds on more than 40 years of experience from FARO in 3D measurement and reality capture, and over two decades of handheld metrology innovation from Creaform since its founding in 2002. According to the companies, the reorganization is designed to ensure continuity for customers and partners, maintain trust, and provide clear communication while creating a platform for long-term growth in both manufacturing metrology and reality capture markets.
