Sixpenny Additive, a newly launched Canadian metal additive manufacturing company, has announced its partnership with Meltio to become the first authorized distributor and integration partner for Meltio’s advanced wire-laser metal 3D printing systems in Canada. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in expanding access to Meltio’s industrial additive manufacturing technology across North America.
Meltio’s patented wire-laser directed energy deposition (DED) technology allows manufacturers to produce fully dense metal parts using cost-effective welding wire. The system’s versatility enables seamless integration with robotic arms or operation as standalone 3D printers, offering a balance of affordability, scalability, and industrial-grade reliability.
“We are thrilled to bring Meltio’s technology to Canada,” said David Nolan, President of Sixpenny Additive. “Wire-laser DED opens doors for Canadian manufacturers seeking to reduce costs, shorten lead times, and produce parts previously impossible or uneconomical with conventional methods. Our mission is to make adoption seamless by offering both the equipment and the expertise to maximize its benefits.”
Gabriel Ortiz, Meltio Channel Manager for the United States, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing Meltio’s commitment to supporting industries across Canada. “This partnership with Sixpenny Additive allows companies in sectors like automotive, aerospace, and energy to manage their entire manufacturing process using our wire-laser DED solutions — from the Meltio Engine Robot Integration to the Meltio Robot Cell. These systems enable reliable metal part production and repair at industrial scale.”
Sixpenny Additive’s operations encompass five key areas: service bureau printing, OEM sales and integration, proprietary component development, design for additive manufacturing and certification, and post-processing services. As a division of Sixpenny Architectural Fabrication, the company draws on nearly a decade of experience in complex metal fabrication for architecture, industrial applications, and public art installations.
Meltio, based in Linares, Spain, is a global leader in wire-laser metal 3D printing solutions, known for its multi-laser DED technology compatible with standard welding wires. The company’s mission is to make metal additive manufacturing more accessible, reliable, and efficient across industries worldwide.
