PTC Industries Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of high-performance alloys and precision-engineered components for aerospace and defence, has achieved a major breakthrough by securing a prestigious Purchase Order from the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), a DRDO lab. The order involves Post-Cast Operations for Single Crystal “Ready-to-Fit” turbine blades, marking a historic step in India’s indigenous aero-engine manufacturing capabilities.
The announcement came during the inauguration of PTC’s Titanium and Superalloys Materials Plant at the Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in Lucknow, graced by Honourable Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This development positions PTC as the first Indian company entrusted with end-to-end post-cast processes for Single Crystal turbine blades—covering machining, grinding, brazing, vacuum heat treatment, thermal barrier coating, and powder vapour deposition—an expertise traditionally limited to a handful of global aerospace manufacturers.
Highlighting the achievement, Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Industries, stated,
“This order from GTRE is a milestone of national importance. Single Crystal turbine blades are among the most complex and strategically vital components of modern jet engines. Developing this technology in India strengthens our nation’s journey toward complete aerospace manufacturing independence and technological self-reliance.”
The project will harness the combined capabilities of PTC’s Indian operations and its UK-based subsidiary, Trac Precision Solutions, ensuring precision, reliability, and quality in every ready-to-fit blade produced.
PTC Industries’ growing partnership with GTRE underlines the success of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, advancing self-reliance in aerospace propulsion and materials technology. Over the years, PTC has emerged as a trusted supplier to HAL, DRDO, BrahMos, and global aerospace majors such as Safran, Dassault Aviation, BAE Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
This landmark order not only underscores India’s capability to produce advanced turbine components domestically but also signals the country’s accelerating momentum toward designing and manufacturing complete aero-engines—a transformative leap for the nation’s aerospace and defence ecosystem.
