KisanKraft Ltd has entered India’s electric farm equipment market with the launch of two battery-powered machines designed specifically for small and medium farmers. The company aims to make farm mechanisation more affordable, efficient, and sustainable by significantly reducing operating costs while addressing the growing challenges of labour shortages and rising fuel prices.

According to KisanKraft, the new electric machines can reduce operating energy costs by more than 90 percent, bringing hourly running expenses down from approximately Rs 170 for petrol-powered equipment to nearly Rs 10. The substantial cost savings are expected to make mechanised farming more accessible and economically viable for farmers across the country.

The company has introduced two made-in-India products—the E-Inter-cultivator and the E-Self Propelled Reaper—as the first additions to its new range of battery-powered agricultural equipment. Unlike conventional electric conversions, these machines have been engineered on a dedicated electric platform, ensuring better performance, efficiency, and reliability. KisanKraft also plans to expand its electric product portfolio in the future with additional equipment, including boom sprayers and other farm machinery.

Speaking about the launch, Amit Sharma, CEO of KisanKraft Limited, said that for decades Indian farmers have borne the high cost of fuel, servicing, and maintenance associated with petrol-powered machinery. He explained that the company’s move into electric farm equipment is driven by the belief that mechanisation should improve farm profitability rather than increase operating expenses. By dramatically lowering energy costs, KisanKraft aims to help farmers achieve greater productivity while reducing the overall cost of cultivation.

The new machines have been extensively tested under diverse Indian farming conditions, including different soil types, climatic regions, and agricultural environments. More than 100 hours of field testing have been completed to validate their durability, performance, and reliability. The E-Inter-cultivator has also received approval following independent testing by the Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute (FMTTI), providing additional confidence in its performance.

Designed for weeding and intercultural operations, the E-Inter-cultivator features 32 J-shaped blades, weighs approximately 150 kg, and is capable of covering around one acre per hour. A single battery charge provides approximately 3.5 hours of operation, enabling efficient fieldwork with minimal interruptions.

The E-Self Propelled Reaper has been developed for harvesting crops such as paddy, wheat, millets, and soybean. It is capable of harvesting approximately one acre per hour, including operation in moderately wet paddy fields, while delivering up to four hours of runtime on a single battery charge.

Both machines are equipped with removable batteries that can be fully recharged in around 5.5 hours. They feature IP67-rated motors and controllers that offer excellent protection against dust and water, making them suitable for demanding agricultural environments. The AIS-certified Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries are designed to deliver a lifespan of more than 2,000 to 2,500 charge cycles, ensuring long-term reliability and reduced ownership costs.

Beyond lower operating expenses, the electric platform eliminates the need for fuel, engine oil, and many conventional engine components, significantly reducing maintenance requirements. The machines also produce less noise and vibration, improving operator comfort during extended working hours. KisanKraft has also announced plans to introduce IoT-enabled capabilities in future versions, including battery health monitoring, geofencing, and mobile app connectivity to provide smarter fleet management and equipment monitoring.

The newly launched electric farm machines are now available through KisanKraft’s nationwide network of more than 5,000 dealers. With this launch, the company is taking an important step towards supporting India’s transition to sustainable, cost-effective farm mechanisation while helping small and medium farmers improve productivity, reduce operating costs, and embrace the future of smart agriculture.
