Feintool Opens First Manufacturing Facility in Pune to Strengthen India Operations!
Feintool has officially inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India with the opening of a new production site in Pune, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. The new plant has commenced production to fulfil initial customer orders and will manufacture precision fineblanked automotive components for both domestic and international customers. The investment reinforces Feintool’s long-term commitment to India’s rapidly growing automotive industry while supporting its global “local-for-local” manufacturing strategy aimed at serving customers more efficiently through regional production capabilities.
India has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets and is increasingly becoming an important manufacturing and export hub for global vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers. Recognising this opportunity, Feintool has established its Pune facility to provide customers with locally manufactured precision components while reducing supply chain complexities and improving responsiveness. The company believes the new production site positions it to benefit from the continued expansion of India’s automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors.
Speaking at the inauguration, Lars Reich, Chief Executive Officer of Feintool, said the company is proud to meet growing customer demand for local manufacturing in India through its new Pune facility. He noted that the investment places Feintool in a strong position to benefit from the sustained growth of the Indian automotive industry while creating opportunities to expand into other industrial markets. According to Reich, the company sees India as a strategically important market that offers significant long-term growth potential for advanced manufacturing technologies.
Feintool currently operates 18 manufacturing facilities across Asia, Europe and the United States, specialising in high-volume production of precision components using advanced technologies such as fineblanking, cold forming and e-lamination stamping. These manufacturing processes are widely used in the automotive industry to produce highly accurate and durable components that meet stringent quality and performance requirements. The addition of the Pune facility further strengthens Feintool’s global manufacturing network while enhancing its ability to serve customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new production facility reflects Feintool’s “local-for-local” strategy, which focuses on manufacturing products close to customer locations while leveraging the company’s global engineering expertise and technology standards. Commenting on this approach, Marcel Pernici, President of Feintool Asia, said supplying customers directly within their regional markets enables the company to respond more quickly to changing market requirements while reducing dependence on global supply chain disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties. He added that combining local production with global technological expertise allows Feintool to maintain the high levels of quality, reliability and operational flexibility expected by its customers.
Initially, production at the Pune facility will focus on fineblanked automotive seating system components, supporting existing customer programmes in India. However, the company has already developed plans to expand the facility’s manufacturing capabilities as market demand increases. Future production is expected to include cold forming technologies, electric motor core manufacturing and hydrogen-related applications, reflecting the ongoing transformation of the automotive industry toward electrification and alternative energy solutions.
Tobias Gries, Managing Director India, said Feintool has established a strong local team to support its Indian operations and has already begun ramping up production. He explained that the Pune facility has been designed with future expansion in mind, allowing the company to gradually introduce additional manufacturing technologies as customer requirements evolve. According to Gries, the plant provides the flexibility needed to support both conventional automotive applications and emerging technologies associated with electric mobility and hydrogen-powered transportation.
The establishment of the Pune manufacturing facility represents an important step in Feintool’s long-term growth strategy in India. Beyond strengthening local production capabilities, the investment is expected to improve customer support, shorten delivery timelines and increase manufacturing flexibility. As global automotive manufacturers continue expanding their operations in India, demand for precision-engineered components produced to international quality standards is expected to grow significantly.
With its first Indian production facility now operational, Feintool is well positioned to support the country’s expanding automotive ecosystem while laying the foundation for future investments in advanced manufacturing technologies. The Pune plant not only strengthens the company’s regional presence but also reflects increasing global confidence in India as a competitive destination for high-precision manufacturing and next-generation industrial production.
