Danfoss India and PowerNEU Form Joint Venture to Drive Low-Carbon Transformation in Metals and Heavy Industry!
**Danfoss India has entered into a strategic partnership with *PowerNEU* to establish Danfoss PowerNEU Private Limited, a joint venture focused on supporting India’s metals and heavy industries in their transition toward low-carbon and energy-efficient operations.** The collaboration was formally marked by a groundbreaking ceremony for a new manufacturing facility and office in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand—one of India’s most important steel and metals hubs.
The creation of Danfoss PowerNEU reflects Danfoss’s long-term commitment to India and its strategy of delivering advanced decarbonisation and energy-efficiency solutions closer to industrial customers. By locating the new facility in Jamshedpur, the joint venture is strategically positioned to serve steel and metals producers across Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and surrounding industrial clusters. The venture is designed as a long-term platform to expand the adoption of low-emission technologies across India’s metals and heavy industry ecosystem.
A key objective of the joint venture is to strengthen local engineering, execution, and service capabilities. The Jamshedpur facility will enable faster on-site support, continuous connectivity with customer operations, and quicker project execution. This proximity allows solutions to be engineered and implemented based on real plant conditions, helping customers improve energy efficiency, operational reliability, and environmental performance while reducing downtime and project lead times.
Once fully operational, the site will function as an integrated industrial centre, offering design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance for complex applications, all aligned with Danfoss’s global standards. Solutions from Danfoss Power Drives, Danfoss Climate Solutions, and Danfoss Power Solutions will be delivered from a single location, simplifying project coordination and improving overall execution efficiency for customers.
The facility will also house a dedicated Experience Centre focused on decarbonisation technologies spanning power electronics, climate solutions, and hydraulics. This centre will play a key role in customer engagement by enabling live demonstrations, technical training, and capability development. By allowing customers to see technologies in action and build internal expertise, the Experience Centre is intended to accelerate adoption and move decarbonisation initiatives from pilot stages to full-scale deployment.
The timing of the joint venture aligns with broader industry trends. As Indian industries face increasing pressure to reduce emissions and energy intensity, energy efficiency is emerging as a critical lever for both sustainability and competitiveness. With a significant share of global energy projected to be lost as waste heat by 2030 and demand for green steel in India expected to rise sharply by the end of the decade, Danfoss views decarbonisation not only as an environmental responsibility but also as a strategic business opportunity.
Commenting on the development, Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India, said the joint venture highlights the strategic importance of Eastern India in the country’s steel ecosystem and enables closer collaboration with customers at a critical point in their energy transition. Mandar Vaijanapurkar noted that the Jamshedpur Centre of Excellence will play a central role in advanced engineering and application development, supporting faster and more sustainable performance improvements at customer sites.
Representing the joint venture, Vijay Kumar Singh emphasized that the collaboration combines Danfoss’s global technology leadership with PowerNEU’s strong regional execution capabilities, while Tanmay Roy highlighted the venture’s focus on helping metals producers achieve measurable, plant-level results at scale.
PowerNEU, headquartered in Jamshedpur, brings deep expertise in industrial automation, electrification, and Industry 4.0 solutions. Together, Danfoss and PowerNEU aim to build a strong, locally anchored platform that supports India’s metals and heavy industries in achieving long-term decarbonisation, efficiency, and competitiveness.
