CERATIZIT has expanded its cutting tool portfolio with the introduction of the WTX-UNI and WTX-Deep UNI solid carbide drills, engineered to deliver high performance, versatility, and environmental sustainability. Designed for use across a wide spectrum of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened steels up to 54 HRC, these new drills simplify tool selection while ensuring consistent precision and reliability in challenging machining environments.
At the heart of these new tools is Ceratizit’s CT-GS20Y upGRADE carbide substrate, the company’s most sustainable base material to date. Remarkably, this carbide is produced using 99 percent recycled raw materials, reflecting Ceratizit’s strong commitment to sustainability without compromising tool strength or performance. The WTX-UNI drill features a patented end geometry with a convex cutting edge and a 140-degree point angle, which enhances centring accuracy and stability during drilling. Additionally, the DPA74S coating, combined with optimized flute design, ensures smooth chip evacuation, reduced chip jamming, and extended tool life—key factors for maintaining process reliability and minimizing downtime.
Available in diameters ranging from 3 to 20 mm, the WTX-UNI comes in both 3xD and 5xD lengths, with or without internal coolant, and in multiple shank styles to suit various setups. For applications requiring even higher stability, the WTX-Quattro variant features four guide lands that provide exceptional balance and guidance throughout the drilling process. This variant is available in 5xD, 8xD, and 12xD versions, with the deeper drilling models (8xD and 12xD) incorporating a modified 135-degree point angle to enhance deep-hole performance and chip control.
For extreme-depth applications, Ceratizit offers the WTX-Deep UNI—a high-performance drill capable of reaching drilling depths up to 50xD. This model has been meticulously designed with polished chip spaces and four guide lands, improving chip evacuation, stability, and hole quality even under heavy-duty conditions. Coated with Ceratizit’s advanced DPX74-M high-performance coating, the WTX-Deep UNI maintains excellent wear resistance and heat stability, ensuring consistent tool life across extended production runs.
The WTX-Deep UNI drills are available in diameters from 3 to 14 mm for metric users and 3 to 8 mm for inch sizes in the North American market. Their robust geometry and surface finish make them ideal for manufacturers demanding both precision and productivity in deep-hole applications.
By combining advanced coating technology, sustainable materials, and optimized design, Ceratizit’s new WTX-UNI and WTX-Deep UNI series redefine versatility in solid carbide drilling. These tools not only enhance performance and efficiency across a variety of materials but also support greener manufacturing practices—offering an innovative solution for shops aiming to achieve both technical excellence and environmental responsibility.
