OM Galaxy Secures Patent for Innovative Hot Runner Technology to Improve Plastic Injection Moulding Efficiency!
OM Galaxy Ltd has strengthened its position in precision engineering and plastics manufacturing by securing a new patent for an advanced hot runner manifold technology developed through its subsidiary, Infuse HRS Pvt. Ltd. The patented innovation is designed to significantly reduce maintenance time and improve operational efficiency in plastic injection moulding processes. By addressing one of the industry’s longstanding maintenance challenges, the technology enables manufacturers to minimise production downtime, enhance productivity and improve overall manufacturing performance. The patent also highlights India’s growing capabilities in engineering innovation and advanced manufacturing under the Government’s “Make in India” initiative.
The company has been granted Patent No. 590105 by the Patent Office, Government of India for its Split-Type Hot Runner Manifold for Plastic Injection Moulds. The technology has been specifically developed to overcome maintenance and cleaning challenges associated with processing engineering polymers such as UPVC, PVC and CPVC, materials that are widely used in industries including construction, plumbing, electrical systems and industrial manufacturing. Conventional hot runner systems often experience material build-up during extended production runs, resulting in lengthy cleaning procedures, increased machine downtime and higher maintenance costs.
The newly patented split-type manifold has been engineered to simplify maintenance without compromising moulding performance. One of its most significant advantages is its ability to reduce the cleaning time required for PVC and CPVC manifolds by as much as 90 percent, even after prolonged production cycles. This substantial reduction in maintenance time enables manufacturers to resume production much faster, increasing machine utilisation and improving overall production efficiency. By reducing non-productive downtime, the innovation can help manufacturers achieve higher output while lowering operating costs.
Another important feature of the new manifold design is its ability to effectively vent gases generated during the processing of PVC and CPVC materials. During injection moulding, these polymers can release gases that affect material flow, product quality and mould performance if not managed properly. The patented system has been designed to improve gas evacuation, helping maintain stable processing conditions while supporting consistent product quality and reducing the likelihood of production defects.
A standout feature of the innovation is OM Galaxy’s EZ-CLEAN SYSTEM, which has been developed to make maintenance significantly easier than conventional hot runner systems. Traditional manifold cleaning often requires extensive dismantling or drilling operations to remove hardened material deposits, leading to increased maintenance time and the risk of damaging critical components. In contrast, the EZ-CLEAN SYSTEM allows operators to remove solidified resin quickly and efficiently with minimal disassembly, greatly simplifying routine maintenance procedures. The easier cleaning process reduces labour requirements, shortens maintenance intervals and enables faster production restart following extended manufacturing runs.
The patent, granted on 22 May 2026, reflects the company’s continued investment in research, product development and engineering innovation. Through its subsidiary Infuse HRS Pvt. Ltd., OM Galaxy has focused on developing advanced solutions that address practical manufacturing challenges while improving productivity and operational reliability for plastic processors. The latest innovation demonstrates how indigenous engineering capabilities can create globally competitive technologies that deliver measurable benefits to industrial manufacturers.
The new hot runner manifold technology is expected to benefit manufacturers across multiple sectors that rely on precision plastic injection moulding, particularly those processing high-performance thermoplastics where maintenance efficiency plays a critical role in production economics. Reduced cleaning time, lower maintenance costs, improved process stability and enhanced product quality make the technology particularly valuable for high-volume production environments where maximising equipment uptime is essential.
With the successful development and patenting of its split-type hot runner manifold, OM Galaxy further strengthens its reputation as an innovation-driven engineering company committed to advancing precision tooling and plastics manufacturing. The technology not only supports higher manufacturing efficiency but also contributes to the broader development of India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem by demonstrating the country’s growing capability to develop world-class engineering solutions for global industrial applications.
