Hero MotoCorp Appoints Sachin Agrawal as CTO to Drive Next-Generation Mobility and Electrification Strategy!
Hero MotoCorp has appointed Sachin Agrawal as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective May 21, 2026, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on next-generation mobility, electrification, and advanced technology development.
Agrawal will succeed Vikram Kasbekar, who will step down from the CTO role while continuing to serve as Executive Director on the company’s board. The leadership transition comes at a critical time as Hero MotoCorp accelerates investments in electric mobility, connected technologies, and future-ready product platforms.
In his new position, Agrawal will lead the transformation of the company’s global research and development operations, overseeing activities at the Hero Centre for Innovation and Technology in India as well as the Hero Tech Centre in Germany. His responsibilities will include advancing product engineering, electrification programs, alternative fuel technologies, and software-driven mobility initiatives aligned with the company’s long-term strategic roadmap.
Agrawal brings more than 29 years of experience in automotive engineering, research, and technology leadership. Prior to joining Hero MotoCorp, he served as Executive Vice President and Head of R&D and Technology at VE Commercial Vehicles, the joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors.
Throughout his career, he has worked extensively in areas including powertrain engineering, electric mobility systems, connected vehicle technologies, and advanced automotive development. His expertise is expected to play a key role in strengthening Hero MotoCorp’s engineering capabilities and accelerating innovation across its global R&D ecosystem.
The appointment highlights Hero MotoCorp’s broader strategy to evolve from a traditional two-wheeler manufacturer into a technology-driven mobility company. As competition intensifies in both the premium motorcycle and electric vehicle segments, manufacturers are increasingly investing in software-defined mobility, connected features, and alternative propulsion technologies.
Hero MotoCorp has been actively expanding its electric mobility initiatives through products and strategic investments aimed at capturing growth opportunities in India’s rapidly evolving EV market. The company is also focusing on reducing product development cycles and enhancing engineering agility to respond more effectively to changing consumer preferences and regulatory requirements.
Industry observers view the appointment as part of a larger organisational effort to align technology leadership with future mobility trends, including electrification, sustainability, digital integration, and intelligent vehicle systems. The leadership transition also reflects the increasing importance of advanced R&D capabilities in maintaining competitiveness within the global automotive industry.
Overall, the appointment of Sachin Agrawal as CTO signals Hero MotoCorp’s intent to strengthen its innovation pipeline and technology leadership as the company positions itself for the next phase of growth in electric and software-led mobility solutions.
