“The accuracy, the support, the service – everything we got off Promac was second to none.”

Part of a £6 million investment by Datum Tool Design, there’s nothing quite like this Promac twin-head gantry machine in the UK. Wing tools, fuselage tools, aerospace tooling so large that until now, it had to leave the UK to be finished in Europe or North America – and Datum Tool Design’s investment in this bespoke Promac machine changes that.

With two simultaneous five-axis heads, 120 HSK100 tools, and a table capable of holding over 1,300 tonnes, it’s one of the most capable machines in Europe. Lyndsey Vickers of MTDCNC and Michael Maguire of Datum Tool Design explore how a bespoke collaboration between Datum, Promac, and the ATI programme brought this extraordinary facility to life.
