McMurtry Automotive Opens Cutting-Edge Factory in Gloucestershire
McMurtry Automotive Limited has announced the opening of its new multi-million-pound facility in Wotton-under-Edge, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. This new 2,700-square-metre production plant marks a significant expansion for the British manufacturer, best known for its record-breaking hypercar, the Spéirling.
The company, founded a decade ago by Renishaw’s co-founder Sir David McMurtry, who passed away in 2024, has been at the forefront of innovation in the automotive sector. The new facility is designed to bolster the production of the Spéirling PURE model while accommodating future projects and the establishment of a new Technology division.
The company’s existing headquarters, Swinhay House, will continue to operate alongside the new plant. This strategic expansion is set to enhance McMurtry’s production capabilities and streamline operations, ensuring the company remains a leader in high-performance automotive engineering.
The Spéirling hypercar gained widespread acclaim after setting a new record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb in 2022. The performance benchmark has solidified McMurtry’s reputation as a pioneering force in the industry. With the new factory, McMurtry is poised to accelerate production and deliver cutting-edge models that meet the evolving demands of the automotive world.
As the company embarks on this exciting new chapter, McMurtry Automotive continues to honour the legacy of its founder by pushing the boundaries of technology and design in the automotive industry.
