John Deere Expands U.S. Manufacturing and Distribution Footprint with Two New Facilities!

John Deere has announced plans to strengthen its U.S. operations with the addition of two new facilities—a distribution center in Indiana and a manufacturing plant in North Carolina—both scheduled to become operational within the next year. The move reflects the company’s continued focus on enhancing supply chain resilience, increasing domestic manufacturing capability, and supporting future product growth.

One of the planned investments includes a new distribution center near Hebron, Indiana. The facility is intended to play a key role in improving John Deere’s nationwide supply chain performance by streamlining logistics and supporting faster, more reliable delivery of equipment and replacement parts to dealers and customers. The project is expected to create approximately 150 jobs in the region.

While the new Indiana distribution center will expand capacity and flexibility, John Deere confirmed that it will continue to operate its primary North American parts distribution hub in Milan, Illinois. Together, these facilities are expected to strengthen the company’s ability to meet customer demand and maintain service levels across its U.S. dealer network.

In addition to the logistics expansion, John Deere also plans to open a new excavator manufacturing facility in Kernersville, North Carolina. The plant represents an investment of around $70 million and will take over production of future-generation excavators that were previously manufactured in Japan. By relocating this production to the United States, the company aims to improve responsiveness to market needs while reinforcing its domestic manufacturing base.

The North Carolina excavator factory is expected to employ more than 150 people once fully operational. The facility will support the production of next-generation construction equipment, aligning with John Deere’s broader strategy to localize manufacturing closer to key markets and customers.

Taken together, the two new facilities underscore John Deere’s commitment to long-term investment in U.S. operations. By expanding both its manufacturing and distribution infrastructure, the company is positioning itself to improve operational efficiency, support innovation in equipment design, and strengthen its supply chain as demand for construction and agricultural machinery continues to evolve.
