Bystronic Strengthens Laser Portfolio with Acquisition of Coherent’s Tools for Materials Processing Business!

Bystronic has completed the acquisition of the Tools for Materials Processing business unit from Coherent Corp., marking a significant strategic step in expanding its technological capabilities and market reach beyond core sheet metal cutting. The move allows Bystronic to enter new, high-growth application areas while broadening its laser technology portfolio.

Through this acquisition, Bystronic gains access to markets such as medical technology, semiconductor manufacturing and a wider range of general industrial applications. The new unit employs approximately 400 people and is headquartered in Gilching, Germany, which will remain a central hub for development and operations.
