Venttup Unveils Whitepaper on India’s Manufacturing Future at Kerala Innovation Festival 2025!

At the Kerala Innovation Festival in Kochi, emerging B2B startup Venttup officially launched its whitepaper titled “Building India’s Manufacturing Momentum”, offering a strategic roadmap to transform India into a global manufacturing powerhouse. The launch event was attended by top policymakers, industry veterans, and startup ecosystem leaders, with the first copy presented to Mamatha Venkatesh, Head of Start-up India, and Dr. Lida Jacob, IAS.

Founded by industry veterans from Hitachi Energy, Siemens Energy, L&T, and Kalpataru Power, Venttup’s leadership team—Sandeep Nair (CEO), M Wasim Ankli (COO), and Joseph Panakkal (CMO)—brings decades of experience in manufacturing, innovation, and supply chain development. The startup is focused on indigenizing India’s manufacturing value chain by working with large and mid-sized enterprises to develop locally sourced components for industries such as energy, electric vehicles (EVs), aerospace, and defense.

Speaking at the event, Sandeep Nair highlighted the urgent need for collaborative efforts between the government and private sector to overcome existing challenges in the MSME sector—ranging from outdated technology to weak project management capabilities. “India’s MSMEs contribute nearly 45% of exports but continue to face structural barriers,” Nair said. “This whitepaper outlines how India can leverage its strengths—its talent, engineering capability, and growing digital infrastructure—to become a preferred global manufacturing hub.”

Key insights from the whitepaper include the rise of Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) companies, increasing foreign interest in India’s aerospace sector, and the broader impact of the ‘China + 1’ strategy, which is driving global manufacturers to diversify their supply chains. Bhaskar Majumdar, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, noted, “India is uniquely positioned to replace China in many manufacturing verticals. Our investment in Venttup reflects this belief.”

The whitepaper proposes the development of sector-specific industrial clusters—integrated ecosystems where suppliers, logistics providers, and manufacturers co-locate to enhance collaboration and reduce production inefficiencies. These clusters should focus on high-growth segments like semiconductors, EVs, energy, and precision engineering.

Another key recommendation is the overhaul of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to better align with modern manufacturing needs. The whitepaper calls for stronger public-private partnerships (PPPs) and the creation of Centers of Excellence in areas like robotics, CNC machining, and smart factory operations to upskill India’s workforce for Industry 4.0.

To fully embrace the digital transformation, the report stresses the importance of supporting MSMEs with incentives for adopting automation, IoT, AI, and real-time data analytics. It also points out the critical need for a substantial increase in R&D investment, as India currently spends only 0.7% of its GDP on R&D, compared to China’s 2.4%.

Overall, Venttup’s whitepaper presents a forward-thinking and actionable strategy for accelerating India’s manufacturing growth. By focusing on localization, digital innovation, skill development, and ecosystem collaboration, India is poised to not only meet global demand but also establish itself as a resilient, self-reliant leader in the global manufacturing arena.
