Godrej Aerospace Strengthens India’s Aero-Engine Manufacturing Capabilities Through Advanced Engineering and Global Partnerships!
Godrej Enterprises Group is accelerating India’s aerospace manufacturing ambitions through its aerospace business, which has emerged as a significant player in the global aero-engine supply chain. The company is enhancing India’s precision engineering capabilities while supporting the country’s broader Atmanirbhar Bharat vision by developing advanced aerospace systems and expanding partnerships with leading global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Established in the 1980s, the aerospace division has evolved into one of India’s key private-sector aerospace manufacturing players. According to the company, it is currently the only private Indian enterprise capable of manufacturing all modules of an aero-engine, positioning it uniquely within the country’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
The business has built long-term partnerships with major global aerospace companies including Boeing and Rolls-Royce. These collaborations have been supported by a strong focus on precision manufacturing, zero-defect quality standards, and reliable delivery performance, helping establish credibility within global aerospace supply chains.
The company’s aerospace operations have witnessed nearly 25 percent annual growth, while exports have increased by more than 30 percent, reflecting rising international demand for Indian-manufactured aerospace components and systems. To sustain this growth trajectory, Godrej plans to invest approximately ₹100 crore in research and development as well as advanced digital manufacturing technologies.
As part of its expansion strategy, the company is also establishing a new manufacturing facility in Khalapur. The facility is expected to strengthen regional aerospace manufacturing infrastructure and contribute to the development of Maharashtra as a major aerospace supply chain hub. The location was selected due to its industrial ecosystem, infrastructure connectivity, and availability of skilled engineering talent.
A significant milestone for the company has been the indigenous development and manufacturing of critical aerospace systems such as actuators. This achievement positions Godrej among a select group of Indian companies capable of designing and manufacturing sophisticated aerospace technologies domestically. The development also reflects a strategic transition from being primarily a precision component manufacturer to becoming a design-led engineering partner capable of delivering integrated aerospace systems.
Company leadership highlighted that building a globally competitive aero-engine ecosystem requires deep engineering expertise, robust supply chains, uncompromising quality standards, and long-term execution capability. Through continued investments in advanced manufacturing, innovation, and workforce development, the company aims to strengthen India’s role in the global aerospace value chain.
The expansion also aligns with India’s broader push to increase indigenous aerospace manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports for critical aerospace technologies. As global aerospace companies continue to diversify supply chains and seek reliable manufacturing partners, Indian firms with advanced engineering capabilities are gaining greater strategic importance.
Overall, Godrej Aerospace’s continued growth, investments, and technological advancements underscore the increasing maturity of India’s aerospace manufacturing sector and its emergence as a globally competitive hub for high-precision aerospace engineering and production.
