Bombardier Inc. has announced plans to build a new 126,000-square-foot manufacturing centre in Dorval, Quebec, marking a significant investment aimed at strengthening its long-term growth and production capabilities. The new facility will be developed close to Bombardier’s existing Challenger manufacturing centre and the Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre, reinforcing Dorval’s role as a core hub in the company’s global aerospace operations. The project represents an investment of approximately $100 million and is expected to be completed and operational before the end of 2027.

The new manufacturing centre is designed to increase Bombardier’s overall production capacity and productivity as demand for its business aircraft continues to rise worldwide. By expanding its physical footprint and modernizing infrastructure in Dorval, Bombardier aims to enhance manufacturing efficiency, streamline workflows, and support higher output without compromising quality. The facility will play a key role in enabling the company to meet delivery schedules and maintain its competitive position in the global business aviation market.

According to Bombardier, the investment underscores its confidence in sustained market demand and its commitment to building advanced manufacturing infrastructure in Quebec. The company sees Dorval as strategically important, given the proximity to existing production and completion centres, which allows for tighter integration across manufacturing stages and improved coordination across teams. This clustering approach is expected to contribute to operational excellence and long-term cost efficiency.

The project is being supported by the Quebec government through Investissement Québec, which is expected to provide a repayable loan of $35 million under its ESSOR program. The ESSOR initiative is designed to strengthen Quebec’s manufacturing competitiveness, support business expansion, and drive economic vitality across the province. Bombardier has acknowledged the role of this support in enabling large-scale investments that align with both corporate growth objectives and regional economic development priorities.

From a broader economic perspective, the new Dorval manufacturing centre is expected to generate substantial benefits for Quebec’s aerospace ecosystem. The project is anticipated to create hundreds of highly skilled and well-paying jobs, while also driving demand across the local supply chain, including advanced manufacturing, engineering, and specialized services. Quebec remains one of the world’s leading aerospace clusters, and Bombardier’s continued investment reinforces the province’s position as a global centre of aerospace expertise and innovation.

Bombardier highlighted that the Dorval expansion builds on its already significant contribution to the Canadian economy. A recent PwC study commissioned by the company found that Bombardier contributed $7.4 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2024 and supported close to 50,000 jobs nationwide. In Quebec alone, Bombardier directly employs nearly 10,000 people and accounts for more than 31 percent of total aerospace employment, underlining its role as a cornerstone of the province’s industrial base.

With this new manufacturing centre, Bombardier is reinforcing its long-term commitment to Quebec and Canada while investing in the infrastructure needed to sustain growth, improve productivity, and support the next phase of its business aviation strategy. The Dorval project reflects a broader focus on scaling capabilities responsibly, strengthening local ecosystems, and ensuring Bombardier remains a global leader in business aircraft manufacturing.
