#SwarfandChips – 30,000 rpm machining demo at Mazak Live – 23/11/2018 – Ep 104

> On this week’s episode of Swarf and Chips, the team headed to Yamakazi Mazak U.K in Worcester to find out more information about their ground-breaking recent releases, catch up with engineers making purchases and find out the full spec of outstanding features which the equipment offers.

Lyndsey pointed out that the exhibition included live cutting demonstrations, a pragmatic method of showing potential buyers how innovative their new machinery is. Gio highlighted that the technology used such as iSmart in the creation of these machines was also cutting-edge and advanced.

Paul showed us Mazak’s new Variaxis i-200 AWC which boasts progressive features such as a five-axis machining centre and a pallet loading solution, integrated into one cell. This machine is great for flexibility, with the tool changer at the back keeping it well out the way, the machine can expand the tool changer up to 500 tools. The Variaxis i-200 AWC also comes equipped with a conveyor at its base in order to prevent the build-up of swarf in the machining area. The i-200 moves at 60 meters a minute and comes with a 12,000rpm spindle as standard, and it’s gantry design gives it total stability in the working area. This also gives the machine prodigious accuracy, with a Y axis of 500 milometers.
