Orangeburg County will be the site of Hounen Solar’s first US manufacturing facilities.
SC COLUMBIA – Global solar panel producer Hounen Solar (Hounen) has revealed plans to launch its first American manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County. 200 new employment will be created thanks to the company’s $33 million investment.
Hounen, which has its headquarters in Chino, California, produces solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for the clean energy market all over the world. The business also produces other electrical goods in addition to solar panels. With a focus on sustainability, Hounen uses cutting-edge power sources to produce clean energy, such as sustainable systems, turbine energy, and renewable energy.
Hounen’s plans include for renting a 200,720-square-foot facility in Orangeburg, which will be the company’s first manufacturing presence in South Carolina and the United States. The company’s Orangeburg County facility will enable it to create, produce, and market one gigawatt (GW) of crystalline silicon PV panels in the United States.
The project’s employment development credits were approved by the Coordinating Council for Economic Development. Moreover, the council provided Orangeburg County with a grant from the Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF) in the amount of $500,000 to help defray the cost of construction upgrades.
