YBS carbide from ZCC could be a game changer in Difficult to Machine Materials

Monday 22 March 2021, 9:55:56 AM

In this Technical Corner video, Joe Reynolds is joined by Luke of ZCC Cutting Tools to discuss their new YBS grade of carbide inserts for both turning and milling.

Each individual grade has specific advantages for the application. The YBS103 grade is a wear resistant high performance turning grade for nickel-base alloys, while YBS203 is a universal turning and milling grade with balanced wear resistance and fracture toughness. Its high mechanical strength makes YBS303 particularly well suited for general milling applications.

A special feature of all grades is the improved thermal property that prevents sudden edge breakage. The customer benefits from a particularly reliable production process. The balance between wear resistance and fracture toughness enables a particularly flexible use.

The YBS grades with selected geometries will be presented at the EMO 2019 trade fair: In the field of turning these are the SNR geometries for medium to rough machining; in milling the PM and NM geometries for medium machining.
