The KOR 5 is Kennametal’s latest innovation in high-velocity Aluminum roughing. This five-flute end mill can boast increased feed rates of 66 percent as compared to generally used three-flute tools. This product is, in a way, redefining productivity for aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers. In aerospace machining, maximum productivity is obtained using this end mill. The design of KOR 5 is to remove large volumes of metal and move away from the work zone in minimum time. Its tapered core, variable pitch design, and 35 degrees helix almost completely eliminate chatter and tool deflection. The coolant flushes chips away while minimizing heat. It has a unique chip splitter pattern to break off long chips, eliminate re-cutting, and ensure high surface qualities.
