Sheffield Forgemasters Appoints Patrick Davison as CFO Amid Major Transformation

Sheffield Forgemasters has announced the appointment of Patrick Davison as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 2 June 2025. Davison joins the Board alongside Chief Executive Officer Gary Nutter and Chief Operating Officer Gareth Barker, bringing over 18 years of financial leadership across engineering, manufacturing, and aerospace sectors.

A UK-qualified accountant (CIMA), Davison’s most recent role was Group Finance Director at Masonite Europe, where he successfully led a $40 million transformation programme. His arrival at the Ministry of Defence-owned Sheffield Forgemasters comes at a pivotal time, as the company undertakes a major recapitalisation of its defence-critical infrastructure.

CEO Gary Nutter expressed his confidence in the appointment, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Patrick to the board of directors. As CFO, he will be an integral part of our leadership team, helping to guide the business into new markets. His expertise in navigating complex financial landscapes will be vital in supporting our long-term growth, including plant upgrades and workforce investment.”

Nutter highlighted that Davison was selected following a rigorous recruitment process, during which he stood out for his experience in steering businesses through periods of intense transition and innovation. “Patrick has an outstanding record of managing complex operating models and supporting growth in engineering-focused organisations,” he said.

The appointment comes as Sheffield Forgemasters expands its role in supplying critical components to the UK Defence sector while continuing to serve a global customer base. The company is currently undergoing a significant transformation backed by substantial investment aimed at modernising operations and enhancing its production capabilities.

Davison brings a wealth of experience from his previous positions, including Group Finance Director at Radius Aerospace Europe, Divisional Finance Director at Doncasters Group’s UK Fabrications, and EMEA Controller at Stanley Black & Decker Inc. At Stanley, he played a key role in the acquisition and integration of CRC Evans, further demonstrating his ability to deliver on complex strategic initiatives.

Commenting on his new role, Davison said, “This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining one of the world’s most recognised engineering firms. I look forward to working closely with the Board and the wider team to help drive the next phase of transformation and innovation at Sheffield Forgemasters.”
