Take a closer look at the all-new VT 28 from Dörries, a machine that brings big-machine capability into a more compact and cost-effective package.

Three years ago, Paul visited the Starrag plant in Bielefeld to film an 11-metre vertical turning centre. Now, he’s back on site — this time joined by Lee — to explore a very different VTC. Smaller in footprint but still impressive in scale, the new VT 28 even allowed Paul and Lee to recreate their iconic pose from the original visit.

The VT 28 is a single-column vertical turning centre designed for manufacturers wanting a competitively priced, multi-process solution. Far more than just a turning machine, this model offers milling, grinding, and a range of complex machining capabilities, enabling complete processing of heavy and large components in a single setup.

In this feature, Paul and Lee get hands-on with the machine’s build quality, structural design, and process flexibility — delivering a detailed look at why the VT 28 is set to make a significant impact in the large-component machining market.
