Renishaw, Mazak and Fanuc work together to achieve automation

Industry 4.0 thinking can change the way the shop floor works, and a new cell from well-established partners demonstrates how automated process control is easy to set up and does not mean you have to put up the barriers. The Renishaw Equator flexible gauge has been integrated into a cell with a Mazak turning centre and Fanuc collaborative robot to show how parts can be cut, handled and gauged in an automated cell without guarding. The big advantage is that operators can interact with the machine but the robot doesn’t stop working. Emerson Holder from Renishaw explains how the cell works.
