
Tebis AG’s SmartOps technology has been nominated for the prestigious German Innovation Award by the German Design Council. Recognised in the Information Technologies category, this innovation marks a significant advancement for the manufacturing sector.
SmartOps, introduced in November 2025 as part of Tebis 4.1, is designed to automate design and CAM programming. The innovative software offers a blend of flexibility and process reliability, aiming to transform industry standards.
The technology has already demonstrated impressive results among early adopters. Training times for CAD/CAM have been reduced by 50%, allowing users to become proficient much quicker. Additionally, throughput time from CAD input to finished part has seen a reduction of 20, while effort in production preparation, including CAD and CAM, has been cut by up to 90%.
Looking ahead, Tebis AG plans to advance towards an autonomous end-to-end process. This includes integrating Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), implementing AI-based component classification, and automating strategy assignments. These enhancements are expected to lead to more accurate quotations and efficient manufacturing workflows.
