This 1m machine is a robust workhorse that is the ideal partner for subcontract machine shops looking for a reliable and productive machining solution.
The impressive new BT40 spindle taper machine has a generous work envelope of 1020mm by 520mm by 505mm in the X, Y and Z axes with a generous 80-585mm from the spindle nose to the table surface. This is complemented by a spindle centre to column surface distance of 560mm and a table surface to floor distance of 940mm.
The new VMP-40A vertical machining centre also incorporates a 24 station side-arm tool change facility. From an innovation perspective, the new addition to the TDT Technology line-up has a swarf conveyor with a steep angle for both space saving and rapid chip removal. To simplify the swarf evacuation process even further, the machine incorporates flood coolant as well as an external coolant gun that can be conveniently used by the machine operator.
The machine utilises the extremely capable FANUC 0i CNC control unit with the AICC function for contour and HSM applications. The machine is supplied as standard with a 10,000rpm spindle and for simplified set-up and access, the machine also has a door at the side of the machine as well as at the front. This permits the loading of particularly long components that exceed the footprint of the machine and it also gives the operator greater accessibility for cleaning the machine.
