Digital transformation with Bumotec 191neo version
The Starrag Bumotec s191 turn-mill centre has earned the title of the ‘Swiss army knife’ thanks…

MTDCNC has been granted an exclusive first look at the brand-new Dörries VT 28 vertical turning centre from Starrag, with Paul Jones visiting the company’s Bielefeld manufacturing facility earlier this week.
The VT 28 is a next-generation, single-column vertical turning centre designed to deliver true multi-process machining. Featuring fully integrated milling capability within the ram, the machine provides exceptional access and stability, enabling high-precision machining across a wide range of applications.

Starrag has engineered the VT 28 to support seamless process automation. With the addition of an automated robot solution, the machine is capable of automatic head and tool changes, all within a remarkably compact footprint—enhancing productivity without increasing floorspace requirements.
During the visit, Paul Jones and Lee Scott reviewed one of the first VT 28 units currently moving through assembly at Starrag’s state-of-the-art Bielefeld factory. The visit offered MTDCNC a rare behind-the-scenes perspective on the build process and engineering considerations behind the new platform.
Outstanding photography from Chris Thomas captured the day’s activity, providing a visual preview of the machine and the team’s on-site insights.
Comprehensive video content from the visit is now in production and will be released soon on MTDCNC.
