R E Thompson & Co. (Vacuum) Ltd, a UK-based precision engineering firm with over 75 years of industry experience, has announced a significant investment in its manufacturing capabilities. The company has acquired its first Star SR-20RIV Type E sliding head lathe, aimed at boosting their production capacity and operational efficiency.
The new lathe has been dispatched to their facility in Andover, where it is expected to play a key role in enhancing technical capabilities, while simultaneously freeing up capacity on existing machinery. This strategic acquisition underscores R E Thompson’s commitment to delivering complete manufacturing solutions to its customers.
The installation process is set to be completed this week, followed by a comprehensive on-site training programme scheduled for next week. Once these steps are finalised, R E Thompson & Co. will commence production, with projects already in the pipeline for the new machine.
