R E Thompson & Co. (Vacuum) Ltd, a well-established precision engineering firm, has announced the acquisition of their first Star SR-20RIV Type E sliding head lathe. This move is part of the company’s ongoing initiative to expand its manufacturing capabilities.
The lathe was dispatched today to R E Thompson’s facility in Andover, marking a significant upgrade to their production capacity. The introduction of the SR-20RIV Type E is expected to not only enhance operational efficiency but also to improve the technical capabilities of the engineering team. It will additionally free up capacity on the company’s existing machine tools, enabling a more streamlined and effective production process.
The installation of the new lathe is scheduled for this week, with a comprehensive on-site training programme arranged for the following week. R E Thompson & Co. is poised to commence production shortly after, with projects already prepared for the new equipment.
