Renishaw plc, a global leader in additive manufacturing and metrology, celebrated St Patrick’s Day by highlighting its strong ties to Ireland. The company opened its first overseas manufacturing facility, Renishaw Electronics, in Swords near Dublin, back in 1981. This strategic decision was made to meet the growing demand for Renishaw’s innovative technologies.

Renishaw’s connection to Ireland goes beyond its manufacturing presence. The company’s late co-founder, Sir David McMurtry, was born in Dublin and was celebrated as Ireland’s greatest inventor by RTÉ, the national broadcaster, in 2019. This recognition underscores the lasting impact of his numerous innovations within the industry.

Renishaw expressed warm wishes to its customers and colleagues in Ireland, emphasising the company’s ongoing commitment to its Irish operations. The facility in Swords continues to play a pivotal role in the organisation’s global manufacturing and innovation strategy.

Renishaw, renowned for its cutting-edge work in precision measurement and healthcare manufacturing, remains at the forefront of applying innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. The company’s dedication to pushing technological boundaries is mirrored in its legacy and ongoing operations across Ireland and beyond.
