PSL Datatrack: The Quality Control Solution Designed For Subcontractors
Keeping your shop floor running smoothly while maintaining ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards can feel like…

Infinity CNC Ltd has achieved year-on-year growth of around 40% since adopting PSL Datatrack’s modular production control software, a system that owner Will Randall believes has been critical to the company’s success. “I don’t think we’d have been able to grow at the rate we have without having PSL Datatrack in place,” he says.
PSL Datatrack is manufacturing software designed specifically for subcontract precision engineering businesses. Covering everything from quotations to invoicing it reduces duplication of work, streamlines administration and provides complete traceability – all essential to businesses like Infinity CNC operating in demanding industries.
“The system has helped us no end,” comments Will. “I can now focus on running and expanding the business while remaining confident that its day-to-day processes are totally under control with PSL Datatrack in the background.”
Based in Norwich, Infinity CNC supplies precision machining services nationwide, specialising in CNC turning, milling, sliding head machining and routing. The company serves demanding sectors including Subsea, Automotive, Defence, Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Renewables, where quality, reliability and accurate documentation are critical requirements.
Infinity CNC already existed when it merged with Vertex Precision Engineering Ltd in 2023. Vertex was the business Will originally established a year or so earlier, and it was at this point that he first invested in PSL Datatrack.
Will knew that taking on PSL Datatrack from the beginning was the right decision. “I was very keen to get everything organised and in place before I started trading,” he explains. “PSL Datatrack’s reputation in the subcontract precision engineering industry, backed by so many video testimonials, made it a must-have.”
Will also recalls visiting an existing PSL Datatrack user when setting up Vertex. “That customer told me it had made his life so much easier – he couldn’t fault the system. That recommendation, alongside what I’d already seen online, really sealed the deal.”
Transferring the licence to Infinity CNC after the merger was seamless. “It couldn’t have been easier,” Will remarks. “We just supplied new headers and PSL took care of all of the required changes to our paperwork.”

The flexible software proved a perfect fit for a start-up and continues to support Infinity CNC’s impressive expansion. “If you’re doing all the quoting and running a business, the quoting needs to be as quick as possible – you don’t want to be sat at your desk very often,” continues Will.
For him, the ability to set up each machine as a different cost centre is invaluable, balancing workloads and ensuring all quotations reflect true costs. “PSL Datatrack makes it simple to get accurate quotes out of the door fast. We’ve already generated around 5,000!”
Beyond quotations, PSL Datatrack enables Infinity CNC to raise works orders, purchase orders, goods received notes, delivery notes and invoices in seconds – all by reusing information already entered earlier in the process. This smooth data flow saves time, reduces errors and has made day-to-day administration far easier to manage.
Efficiency gains have been felt across the business. Staff attendance is tracked through PSL Datatrack, making payroll calculations quick and easy. “At the end of the month, payroll takes me a matter of minutes – I just send the report to the accountant and it’s done,” Will explains. “It keeps me out of the office and allows me to spend more time on the shop floor, which is where I want to be.”
For customers, integrated traceability means that drawings, material certificates and other documents are always available at the click of a button, giving them confidence and saving valuable administration time for Infinity CNC. “All I have to do is go to the relevant works order and it’s all there. It really is that easy!” says Will.
Implementation and training were smooth experiences for both Will and his father Andrew, who initially used the system together at Vertex. “The training was great and easy to follow,” Will recalls. “And over the time we’ve used the system, the support from PSL has always been excellent. We know we can always get help whenever we need it.” All of the software is designed, developed and supported from PSL’s offices in Bracknell, Berkshire.
Looking ahead, Will is planning a move into larger premises to accommodate continued growth. “We need more space – we’re desperate for it,” he says. “This, coupled with PSL Datatrack’s support, will enable us to take on more staff, more customers, and just see Infinity CNC keep growing!”
“We wouldn’t have been able to grow at the rate we have without Datatrack and the help from PSL,” concludes Will. “We cannot fault the support we’ve had for over three years now and look forward to working alongside the PSL Datatrack team for many more years to come.”
