Zimmermann Inc. FZP37 Gantry Milling Machine Delivers Modular Flexibility for Large-Scale Machining!

Monday 29 December 2025, 7:14:37 AM

Zimmermann Inc. has introduced the FZP37 gantry portal milling machine, a highly configurable machining center designed to deliver modular flexibility, precision, and compatibility with multiple CNC control systems. Built around a scalable design philosophy, the FZP37 enables manufacturers to tailor machine size, operating range, and control architecture to match specific production requirements, making it well suited for a wide spectrum of industries and applications.

At the core of the FZP37 is its modular machine structure, which allows users to select different working envelopes depending on part size and machining needs. The machine supports expansive travel ranges, with an X-axis from 3,000 to 40,000 mm, Y-axis from 2,500 to 6,000 mm, and Z-axis from 1,250 to 3,000 mm. This scalability enables the FZP37 to accommodate everything from medium-sized components to very large workpieces, providing manufacturers with long-term flexibility as production demands evolve.

The portal machining center is designed for high dynamic performance, offering feed rates of up to 60 m/min and accelerations reaching 5 m/s². Its table dimensions mirror the machine’s modular nature, ranging from 3,000–40,000 mm in length and 2,500–6,000 mm in width, with a maximum table load of 5,000 kg per square meter. These specifications make the FZP37 particularly suitable for machining large, heavy components without compromising speed or accuracy.

Structural rigidity is a defining characteristic of the FZP37. The machine features a center lead portal design, combined with robust cross slides, Z-slides, and dynamic milling heads. This rigid construction, together with high thermal stability, ensures consistent machining accuracy over long cycles and under varying thermal conditions. As a result, the FZP37 supports reliable, high-quality milling operations even in demanding production environments.

Another key advantage of the FZP37 is its compatibility with various CNC control platforms, allowing manufacturers to integrate the machine into existing digital and automation ecosystems. This open approach to control integration provides added flexibility for global manufacturers that may standardize on specific CNC brands across multiple facilities.

Thanks to its rigidity, thermal stability, and flexible configuration, the FZP37 is well suited for model making, tool and mold construction, and other precision-intensive applications. It also meets the stringent requirements of industries such as aerospace and automotive, where large structural components must be machined with tight tolerances. In five- or six-axis configurations, the machine extends its applicability to sectors including shipbuilding and alternative energy, where large-format and complex geometries are common.

With the FZP37 gantry milling machine, Zimmermann Inc. offers manufacturers a future-ready machining platform that combines modular scalability, high performance, and control system flexibility. The result is a versatile portal machining solution capable of adapting to diverse production challenges while maintaining precision, efficiency, and long-term value.
