From India to the world: CNC manufacturing on the rise
Not just high quality components – Indian manufacturers like Global CNC are transforming the industry with…
In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in India and support the country’s booming automotive industry, Japanese auto parts manufacturer Yazaki has entered into a partnership with Horizon Industrial Parks, a logistics platform owned by Blackstone. This collaboration aims to build a new 3.16 lakh square-foot manufacturing facility in Chengalpattu, Chennai, which will be focused on the production of wire harnesses and automotive components. The facility is poised to become a key player in Yazaki’s growth strategy in India and is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs in the region.
Chennai’s rising prominence as a manufacturing hub has been fueled by the new peripheral ring road, which connects directly to the Chennai port, making Chengalpattu an increasingly vital area for industrial growth. According to Urvish Rambhia, Director at Horizon Industrial Parks, “Chengalpattu is quickly evolving into a key manufacturing hub due to the improved connectivity with Chennai port, providing strategic advantages for industries looking to scale operations in India.”
This latest manufacturing venture represents a significant expansion for Yazaki, which already operates in 46 countries worldwide. The company’s decision to open a large-scale production unit in Chennai further highlights India’s growing importance as a manufacturing base for the global automotive sector.
The new plant will be designed with sustainability in mind, reflecting Yazaki’s commitment to modernizing its operations. It will incorporate rooftop solar panels, supporting the company’s global focus on reducing its environmental footprint. Additionally, the facility will be employee-friendly, ensuring safety and providing a supportive work environment for the thousands of individuals who will be part of the Yazaki workforce.
This new facility is part of a larger expansion strategy between Yazaki and Horizon Industrial Parks. The partnership between the two has already seen the successful development of other facilities, including plants in Hosur and Farukhnagar, NCR, which have received Platinum ratings from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
“We chose to partner with Horizon after evaluating several industrial developers, and they’ve consistently delivered on time, allowing us to meet our commitments to customers. We are confident in their ability to continue supporting our expansion plans,” said P.V. Raju, CEO of Yazaki India. “The safety and well-being of our nearly 4,200 employees working across Horizon’s facilities in Hosur and Farukhnagar is a top priority for us, and we are pleased with the high-quality infrastructure Horizon provides.”
This collaboration between Yazaki and Horizon not only represents a boost to Chennai’s manufacturing scene but also reinforces Yazaki’s role as a leader in the automotive components sector, positioning it to meet the growing demand for automotive parts in India and beyond.
