Yaskawa Motoman Expands Headquarters in Miamisburg, Ohio, Doubling Production Space to Meet Automation Industry Demand!

Yaskawa America Inc., Motoman Robotics Division (Yaskawa Motoman), has announced the completion of a major expansion to its headquarters in Miamisburg, Ohio. The new 185,000-square-foot addition, a state-of-the-art facility, nearly doubles the company’s production capacity, positioning Yaskawa Motoman to better meet the growing demand for automation and robotics solutions in North America.

The expanded facility will serve multiple functions, including the engineering, development, integration, and production of advanced robotic systems. It will also offer additional space for the retrofit and rebuild of previously deployed robotic systems, ensuring that Yaskawa can continue to provide ongoing service and support to its customers across various industries.

“This expansion represents the first phase of Yaskawa’s planned $200 million investment in the U.S. market, showcasing our commitment to expanding our footprint and driving growth in robotics and automation technology,” said Steve Barhorst, President and COO of Yaskawa Motoman. “This investment reflects our focus on serving key markets such as robotics, semiconductor motion control, and inverters, and allows us to continue delivering high-quality solutions to our valued customers and partners.”

Barhorst also praised the support from local and state entities that made the project possible, including the City of Miamisburg, Montgomery County, Jobs Ohio, and the State of Ohio. “We are deeply grateful for the partnerships we’ve formed with these organizations and our builder, Construction Managers of Ohio. Their support has been crucial in making this project a success, and we are proud to continue being a catalyst for economic growth in Miamisburg and the Greater Dayton Region.”

The expansion is part of Yaskawa Motoman’s broader strategy to grow its presence in the North American market and meet the evolving needs of industries relying on automation, including manufacturing, automotive, electronics, and more. By increasing its production capabilities, Yaskawa can more effectively serve these industries while remaining at the forefront of innovation in robotics technology.

Yaskawa celebrated the opening of the expanded facility with an event for employees and their families in early August 2024. The company will host additional events throughout the remainder of the year to welcome customers, partners, and industry dignitaries to the new facility, reinforcing its commitment to fostering collaboration and driving the future of automation technology.

Looking ahead, Yaskawa’s planned investments are expected to fuel further advancements in robotics and automation, as the company continues to play a critical role in shaping the future of the automation industry across the Americas.
