Worcestershire-based Automotive Artisans has unveiled its ambitious reimagining of the legendary Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale. Originally launched in 1967, the original Tipo 33 Stradale was hailed as one of the most iconic cars of its time, renowned for its stunning design by Franco Scaglione and limited production run. With only 18 examples produced between 1967 and 1969 by Carrozzeria Marazzi, the vehicle stands as a rare masterpiece in automotive history.
Capturing the spirit of the original, Automotive Artisans’ reimagined model, known as the R33, is a testament to traditional craftsmanship combined with cutting-edge technology. Established by Lee Irish, formerly of Morgan and Ferrari, the company is set to produce only 33 units of this modern homage, underscoring its exclusivity and attention to detail.
The R33 features hand-formed aluminium panels that have been meticulously scanned from original designs, preserving the elegance of the original. Its steel chassis draws inspiration from race engineering, ensuring enhanced performance dynamics. Beneath the hood lies a 4.2-litre Maserati V8 engine sourced from new old stock, delivering an impressive 376 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.
This innovative project not only honours the rich legacy of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale but also reflects the enduring appeal of handcrafted automotive excellence. Automotive Artisans aims to blend the timeless allure of classic Italian design with the reliability and performance of modern engineering.
