Mphasis Expands DeepTech Innovation Capabilities Through Strategic Startup Collaborations!
Mphasis, a global leader in AI-driven and platform-based technology services, has strengthened its Sparkle Innovation Program…

Walter has broadened its Xtra·tec XT M5130 shoulder milling cutter portfolio by introducing 29 new inch sizes, bringing the total offering to 119 tools. The expansion includes cutters compatible with 09, 12, and 16 mm inserts and covers diameters ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 inches.
In a unique design choice, Walter opted to increase the clearance angle and rotate the insert position by 8 degrees rather than reduce it to manage cutting forces. This adjustment maintains the effective cutting angle while enhancing tool stability and operational reliability.
The M5130 is engineered for shoulder, face, ramping, pocket, and circular milling, accommodating a diverse range of workpiece materials such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and difficult-to-machine alloys (ISO P, M, K, N, S, and H). Its 90-degree approach angle minimizes or eliminates the need for secondary finishing operations, improving process efficiency.
With multiple pitch options and a reinforced insert installation, the cutters deliver increased stability and higher productivity in demanding machining environments. The complete range now spans diameters from 0.5 to 6.0 inches, offering nine geometries and 11 grades, including polycrystalline diamond (PCD) for exceptional wear resistance.
This latest expansion strengthens Walter’s position as a key tooling solutions provider, offering machine shops greater flexibility, improved reliability, and optimized performance for both general-purpose and high-precision milling applications.
