Virtuoso Compressors Launches State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Facility in Nashik to Boost India’s Refrigeration Sector!

Virtuoso Optoelectronics Limited (VOEPL), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Virtuoso Compressors Private Limited (VCPL), has taken a decisive step in its diversification and manufacturing expansion by inaugurating a world-class reciprocating compressor manufacturing plant in Nashik, Maharashtra. This strategic move marks the company’s formal entry into the cooling components segment, strengthening its role in the broader home appliance industry.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Ashish Kumar, representing the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, as the Guest of Honour. The facility has been developed with extensive technical collaboration from global refrigeration leaders — Huayi Compressor (Jingzhou) Co. Ltd, Jiaxipera Compressor Co. Ltd, and Shenzhen Eateron Company Ltd. Leveraging these international partnerships, the plant is equipped to manufacture a comprehensive range of compressors for both residential and commercial refrigeration systems, incorporating globally proven, energy-efficient technologies.

With an impressive annual production capacity of 2.8 million units, the facility covers compressor models ranging from 3cc to 15cc, including both fixed-speed and variable-speed variants. Given that India’s current domestic reciprocating compressor demand stands at approximately 22 million units per year — with a significant share still imported — the Nashik facility is poised to play a vital role in import substitution, localisation, and strengthening domestic supply chains in line with the Government’s Make in India vision.

During his visit, Dr. Kumar toured the advanced manufacturing lines, witnessing high-precision processes and scalable automation systems designed to deliver consistent quality and efficiency. Company leaders outlined their strategic roadmap, which includes scaling production, deepening backward integration for key components, and fostering a self-reliant ecosystem for compressor manufacturing.

Commenting on the milestone, Sukrit Bharati, Managing Director of VCPL, stated, “Starting compressor manufacturing is a pivotal move for our group. It not only streamlines compliance with domestic certification norms but also fosters the development of a robust local supply chain.
