Velo3D Strengthens Leadership with New Board Appointments: Jason Lloyd and Kenneth Thieneman Join!

Velo3D, a leader in metal additive manufacturing technology, announced the addition of two influential leaders to its Board of Directors: Retired Navy Rear Admiral Jason Lloyd and Kenneth Thieneman, the CEO of Thieneman Construction, Inc. The announcement, made on April 29, 2025, marks a significant step for the company as it looks to expand its presence in the defense sector and enhance its go-to-market strategy for growth.

Jason Lloyd, a seasoned veteran in maritime engineering and design, brings over two decades of experience in the United States Navy and the private sector. Currently serving as the vice president of Maritime Engineering and Design at TotalTek, Lloyd’s leadership experience spans various high-level roles, including serving as Chief Engineer at Naval Sea Systems Command from 2020 to 2024. He also held leadership roles at Newport News Shipbuilding and was the first reactor officer on the USS Gerald R. Ford from 2013 to 2016. Lloyd holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University. His deep understanding of military engineering and leadership will be critical as Velo3D continues to grow its defense industry efforts and expand its portfolio of products used in mission-critical applications.

Joining him is Kenneth Thieneman, a highly accomplished entrepreneur and CEO of Thieneman Construction, Inc. Thieneman founded Thieneman Construction in 1999, specializing in water and wastewater treatment projects, and has been a prominent figure in the environmental engineering sector. His extensive experience in operations and finance, as well as his success in establishing and growing multiple businesses, will provide valuable insight as Velo3D executes its new go-to-market strategy. Thieneman also co-invented Algaewheel, an advanced algae-based wastewater treatment technology, which has earned patents in 20 countries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management from Purdue University.

The addition of these two high-profile board members comes at a pivotal moment for Velo3D. Under the leadership of CEO Arun Jeldi, Velo3D has positioned itself as a pioneer in the world of additive manufacturing, particularly in the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. The company’s cutting-edge technology, which allows the creation of complex, mission-critical metal parts, is set to play a significant role in industries such as space exploration, aviation, power generation, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Velo3D’s flagship products—such as the Sapphire family of printers, the Flow print preparation software, and the Assure quality control system—are powered by the company’s proprietary Intelligent Fusion manufacturing process. With the addition of Lloyd and Thieneman to its board, Velo3D is positioning itself to strengthen its strategic growth, particularly in the defense sector, while enhancing its operational expertise.

Velo3D has already made waves in the industry with its innovative approach to metal 3D printing, partnering with major organizations like SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Aerojet Rocketdyne, and General Motors. The company’s solutions are designed to unlock greater design freedom and enable customers to manufacture previously impossible parts. The involvement of Jason Lloyd and Kenneth Thieneman in Velo3D’s leadership will further enhance the company’s ability to capitalize on its innovative potential and expand its market share across key sectors.

As Velo3D continues to build on its success, the company is poised for even greater achievements in the coming years, particularly as its technology helps drive advancements in high-stakes industries requiring precision manufacturing at the highest levels of quality and reliability.
