UltraTech Cement Adds New Units, Lifts Production Capacity by 1.8 MTPA!

Saturday 27 December 2025, 2:10:34 PM

UltraTech Cement has further strengthened its manufacturing base by adding 1.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity through new and expanded facilities in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, underlining the company’s sustained focus on long-term growth and its readiness to meet India’s steadily rising construction demand. With these additions, UltraTech’s domestic cement capacity has increased to 188.66 MTPA, reinforcing its leadership position in the highly competitive cement industry.

The latest capacity expansion has been achieved through targeted investments at two existing locations. In Dhule, Maharashtra, UltraTech commissioned a new grinding unit with a capacity of 0.6 MTPA, enhancing supply capability in the western region. This addition is strategically significant, as Maharashtra continues to witness strong demand driven by infrastructure development, urban housing projects, and industrial expansion. The Dhule grinding unit is expected to improve regional supply availability while reducing logistics costs and delivery timelines for customers.

In Rajasthan, UltraTech added a larger 1.2 MTPA capacity at its Nathdwara unit through an integrated manufacturing facility. Rajasthan plays a critical role in India’s cement ecosystem due to its proximity to key northern and western markets. The Nathdwara expansion strengthens UltraTech’s ability to serve demand from fast-growing regions while improving operational flexibility and efficiency across its supply chain. Together, the Maharashtra and Rajasthan additions reflect a well-balanced regional expansion strategy aimed at supporting market demand where it is most concentrated.

With these new units commissioned, UltraTech’s total global cement capacity has reached 194.06 MTPA, when combined with its overseas capacity of 5.4 MTPA. This scale places UltraTech among the largest cement producers globally, with a strong manufacturing footprint across India and select international markets. The expanded capacity also enhances the company’s ability to withstand cyclical demand fluctuations while maintaining a consistent supply to infrastructure, housing, and industrial customers.

The capacity additions are closely aligned with India’s broader economic and infrastructure growth trajectory. Increased public spending on highways, metros, industrial corridors, renewable energy projects, and affordable housing continues to drive cement demand across regions. By commissioning capacity at existing sites, UltraTech benefits from faster execution, better asset utilisation, and improved cost efficiency compared to greenfield expansions.

Beyond meeting volume growth, the expansion supports UltraTech’s focus on operational efficiency and logistics optimisation. Strategically located units help reduce transportation distances, lower fuel consumption, and ensure timely delivery to key markets. This approach not only improves margins but also enhances customer satisfaction through reliable and consistent supply.

The move highlights UltraTech Cement’s long-term commitment to market leadership, capacity discipline, and sustainable growth. As competition intensifies in the cement sector, timely capacity additions at the right locations provide the company with a strong competitive edge. By aligning manufacturing expansion with demand trends and infrastructure development, UltraTech is well positioned to remain ahead of the curve while supporting India’s evolving construction and development needs.
