Velo3D Unveils Rapid Production Solutions for Additive Manufacturing!
Velo3D, a leading innovator in metal additive manufacturing (AM), has introduced its new Rapid Production Solutions…
Twara Robotics, a groundbreaking player in the Indian robotics and automation landscape, is redefining the country’s manufacturing sector with its innovative, locally developed robotic solutions. Founded by Dr. Ashish Joglekar, Dr. Kaushik Sampath, and Mr. Alok Singh Rawat, Twara Robotics has its roots in deep-tech innovation and a strong commitment to advancing India’s manufacturing capabilities. Supported by Art Park at the IISc Bangalore and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, and the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the company is positioned to address automation gaps and enhance industrial productivity in India.
Twara Robotics began with the mission of revolutionizing the robotics field by developing advanced actuators, the essential components behind robotic motion. Recognizing that actuators account for nearly 70% of a robot’s cost and complexity, Twara Robotics made it their primary focus to create indigenous actuator technology. The company’s early efforts, supported by India’s robotics ecosystem at Art Park, included collaborations with deep-tech researchers, faculty members, and industrial partners.
As part of the Indian government’s initiative to reduce reliance on imported robotics technology, Twara Robotics identified a significant opportunity in developing high-quality actuator systems tailored to India’s industrial needs. By focusing on making cost-effective, high-performance robotic systems for Tier 1 and Tier 2 MSMEs, the company aims to bridge the automation gap in India’s small and medium-sized enterprises, which often struggle with automation due to high costs and a lack of skilled labor.
The company’s approach aligns with the Indian government’s Make in India initiative, emphasizing the importance of producing high-quality robotics solutions locally. CEO Kaushik Sampath points out that India’s transition to becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse cannot be achieved without a widespread adoption of automation. Twara Robotics is poised to help MSMEs transition seamlessly to automated manufacturing while reducing the country’s reliance on expensive imported technology.
Twara Robotics’ offerings are already making waves in industries such as automotive manufacturing, packaging, and aerospace. With a clear roadmap for the future, the company plans to expand its product portfolio to include solutions for machine loading, welding, pick-and-place applications, and industrial process automation. Their R&D division remains dedicated to advancing their technology, focusing on improving efficiency, scalability, and usability.
Despite challenges such as precision manufacturing constraints and market adoption, Twara Robotics is seeing growing interest from key industry players who are now recognizing the long-term benefits of investing in homegrown robotics technology. With its innovative solutions, Twara Robotics is playing a crucial role in reshaping India’s automation landscape and contributing to the nation’s industrial evolution.
By reducing dependency on foreign robotics technology and fostering local innovation, Twara Robotics is committed to helping India lead the global robotics revolution, making robots an integral part of the country’s future manufacturing success.
