Tsugami has designed the M08SY-II turning center to handle highly complex machining requirements in a single, compact platform, combining turning, drilling, boring, cross-drilling, and CNC milling in one setup. Built for manufacturers seeking high accuracy and high production efficiency, the machine is particularly well suited for producing finished components in one clamping, eliminating secondary operations and reducing overall cycle time.

A key feature of the M08SY-II is its Y-axis capability, which enables true off-center CNC milling of complex geometries. This significantly expands the range of features that can be machined directly on the turning center, allowing users to produce intricate parts without repositioning. The inclusion of both a main spindle and a subspindle further enhances productivity by allowing complete machining of the part front and back within the same cycle.

Both the main and subspindle are equipped with integral, built-in spindle motors, a design that minimizes vibration while delivering fast acceleration and deceleration. This combination supports stable heavy-duty cutting as well as fine finishing operations, ensuring consistent surface quality and dimensional accuracy across a wide range of materials and applications.

The machine’s 12-position turret is mounted directly on the Y-axis, providing exceptional tooling flexibility. Driven tools can be mounted at any turret position and used on either the main or subspindle. When combined with full C-axis control, this configuration allows users to machine virtually any feature—turning, milling, or drilling—and complete the part in a single setup. According to Tsugami, this flexibility makes the M08SY-II ideal for complex, multi-feature components that traditionally require multiple machines.

From a structural standpoint, the M08SY-II is designed for rigidity and long-term accuracy. The machine features a robust yet compact base, making it suitable for high-density shop floors without sacrificing stability. The X- and Y-axes use massive box-way construction, providing excellent rigidity and vibration damping during heavy cutting operations. The Z-axis is built with heavy-duty linear roller guideways, balancing high speed with stiffness to support both productivity and precision.

All three axes are engineered to deliver exceptional positioning accuracy and extended machine life, supporting continuous production environments where repeatability and reliability are critical. This mechanical foundation makes the M08SY-II suitable for both high-volume production and demanding precision work.

Key specifications of the Tsugami M08SY-II include an 8-inch main chuck and 6-inch sub chuck, a main spindle motor output of 10–14.8 hp (7.5/11 kW), and a subspindle motor output of 7.45–10 hp (5.5/7.5 kW). The machine also supports a maximum live tool speed of 5,000 rpm, enabling efficient milling and drilling operations.

Overall, the Tsugami M08SY-II turning center is designed to meet the needs of manufacturers looking to consolidate operations, improve accuracy, and increase throughput. By combining Y-axis milling, dual spindles, and a rigid machine structure, it provides a versatile, high-performance solution for producing complex parts complete in a single machine cycle.
