The January issue of the MTD magazine is out now..
Here it is, hot off the press, our first magazine of the year. You will get your copy in the post any day now. What a great issue! 68 pages and full of unique content. In this January issue you’ll see the 2nd part of the Hexagon Red Bull Racing story – a fantastic 5-page feature on how Hexagon plays an important part of the Formula 1 race week. An absolute ‘must read’ as it’s not often that you get this much information from a Formula 1 team. Sticking with Metrology, we’ve got a really interesting story from Dr. Christian Young at the University of Huddersfield who educates us on the does and don’ts of Industrial Metrology. In our Machining section, look out for story on Rivercircle Ltd. where I paid them a visit to talk about their new 5-axis machines. They’ve got 2 of them now and they bought them from XYZ Machine Tools – read about the great experience they had dealing with XYZ. Also in our Machining section, read about 160 year old Birmingham based S Lilley & Son and what they are making on the 5 machines from Citizen Machinery, and why they bought the Miyano BNA42-MSY. Other great stories in our Machining section come from McDowell Machining Technologies and the capabilities of the Niles-Simmons N30MC machine, a one-hit hero, which is available from them. Another new Star machine at Empire Manufacturing – the SR32 JII Type B, and the installation of the Vulcan VMC from ETG at Micron Workholding. And in a follow up to the feature in our September issue last year, we hear from Four Jaw Manufacturing Analytics again and their ‘FitBit’ for the shop floor – this time how it is being used by Durham-Duplex in Sheffield. The regular Tooling section will teach you about machining exotic metals using the latest products from ISCAR, and how you can now buy cutting tools from Quickgrind in Tewkesbury using Amazon. Please don’t forget to click on the QR codes inside with your mobile phone camera and watch the associated MTD video. Please don’t forget that you can ‘listen’ to features in our magazine – just search for ‘MTD Audiobook’ in your favourite podcast platform. A massive thank you to our advertisers for their support. Finally, we won’t ever stand still with our magazine, and so to freshen things up, we’ve had a small redesign of the pages inside – we hope you like it.
