Tata Electronics Private Ltd. has appointed KC Ang as the new president and head of Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Ltd., signaling a strategic move towards enhancing the company’s leadership in the global semiconductor manufacturing space. In this new role, KC will report directly to Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics. He will be responsible for leading the company’s advanced AI-enabled foundry operations, driving innovation, and forming key strategic partnerships to position Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing as a prominent global leader in chip production.
KC Ang brings an impressive career spanning over three decades in the foundry industry, with deep expertise in fab start-ups, management, operations, and technology transfer. His career has been marked by significant international experience, having worked in countries such as Malaysia, Germany, the United States, and China, making him well-equipped to navigate the complex and dynamic global semiconductor market.
Before joining Tata Electronics, KC held a senior leadership role as president – Asia and chairman – China at Global Foundries, one of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers, where he served for more than 15 years. His extensive background in customer, supplier, and industry relationship management will be invaluable as he leads Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing to new heights.
A native of Malaysia, KC holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Texas. His extensive qualifications and proven track record in semiconductor manufacturing will serve as the foundation for his leadership as Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing embarks on its mission to transform and expand its operations in the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry.
