STMicroelectronics to Showcase Edge AI and Automation Technologies at SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025!

STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor technologies across various electronics applications, is set to present its cutting-edge innovations at SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025, taking place from May 20 to 22. At Booth L1901, STMicroelectronics will highlight a series of live demonstrations and collaborations, showcasing advancements in Edge AI, sensor integration, wireless connectivity, automotive electronics, and industrial automation.

Among the key features at STMicroelectronics’ booth will be a gesture recognition system powered by the STM32N6 microcontroller (MCU). This system integrates an AI-enhanced assistant terminal using a YOLOv8n pose estimation model, capable of processing gesture inputs with an impressive inference speed of up to 25 frames per second. Utilizing the STM32N6 MCU’s integrated neural processing unit (NPU), the system processes data from the VD66GY color image sensor to enable real-time control of robotic hand movements through servo motors. This demonstration exemplifies the capabilities of Edge AI in enabling smart, responsive, and real-time control systems.

STMicroelectronics will also showcase its Inertial Sensor Processing Unit (ISPU) integrated into an inertial measurement unit (IMU). This system utilizes a Sliding Discrete Fourier Transform (SDFT) to provide condition monitoring for industrial applications. It demonstrates how Edge AI can drive industrial automation, enabling predictive maintenance and real-time diagnostics in manufacturing environments.

In another highlight, ST’s biosensor integrates an accelerometer with a vertical analog front-end (vAFE) and embedded AI functionality, supporting biopotential detection for applications such as ECG, EEG, heart rate monitoring, and motion detection. This demonstration emphasizes the growing intersection of AI and healthcare, showcasing ST’s ability to leverage Edge AI for wearable healthcare technologies.

STMicroelectronics is also presenting its ST60A2, a 60 GHz V-Band millimeter-wave transceiver that supports high-speed, low-power data transfer for short-range, point-to-point communications. This system can be used in IoT applications, enhancing wireless connectivity with low-latency data transmission.

Additionally, ST will present its wireless power transmitter, which integrates NFC functionality and complies with the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC) Ki standard. Designed for use in kitchen appliances, this solution aims to replace conventional power cords, offering dynamic and static power modes for wireless energy transfer. This product uses ST’s IH-series IGBTs for efficiency and STM32G4 MCU for precise control, with STSAFE components ensuring secure data handling.

The collaboration with OMRON highlights an automated robotic system implemented at STMicroelectronics’ Ang Mo Kio facility in Singapore. This system automates the handling of wafer cassettes across 22 machines, improving productivity by 10%. The system integrates advanced robotic automation with workforce development, helping employees transition into advanced technical roles via a Career Development Plan (CDP), which has supported over 100 personnel.

Furthermore, EDOM Technology has worked with STMicroelectronics on an energy-efficient traction inverter, a smart charger, and a battery management unit aimed at improving the efficiency of electric vehicle (EV) power systems. The partnership also includes a contactless NFC-based key system for enhanced security.

STMicroelectronics continues to drive innovation across multiple sectors, including automotive, healthcare, industrial automation, and consumer electronics. With its Edge AI, sensor integration, and wireless power technologies, the company is advancing solutions that enhance intelligent manufacturing, smart mobility, and sustainable energy.

At SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025, STMicroelectronics is reinforcing its commitment to enabling advanced technologies that support sustainability and innovation, particularly in sectors critical to future mobility and industry 4.0 advancements. The integration of Edge AI, sensor technology, and robotics is helping pave the way for more efficient, connected, and sustainable solutions across global industries.
