Speedgrip Chuck Systems Enhance Workholding Efficiency with Quick Changeover Solutions!

At PMTS 2025, Speedgrip Chuck Co. is showcasing a range of products designed to improve the efficiency and reliability of machine workholding changeovers, including the NDS Quick-Change Mandrel, QCR Quick-Change Receiver, and CSC Contactless Stroke Control systems.

The NDS Quick-Change Mandrel utilizes a specialized rear bayonet mount that securely pulls and holds the workholding collet from behind, eliminating the need for draw screws. This no-draw-screw (NDS) configuration enhances workpiece accessibility and allows for OD and ID turning, facing, and grinding to be combined into a single operation, streamlining processes and minimizing interference. Speedgrip’s one-piece sealed collet design ensures reliable performance under harsh machining conditions, outperforming similar systems by resisting breakdowns caused by prolonged exposure to machining coolants. The NDS Quick-Change Mandrel allows for higher spindle speeds without compromising gripping power, ensuring long-lasting durability and extended service life. Its adjustable design provides repeatable accuracy to 0.0003″ and is available in seven standard sizes (ranging from 0.5″ to 5″), with custom sizes available upon request.

The QCR Quick-Change Receiver is a manually actuated cam-lock system that facilitates fast workholding device changes on CNC lathe spindles. This innovative solution drastically reduces changeover times, slashing the duration from one hour to just five minutes for swapping ID/OD collets, jaw chucks, or face drivers. The QCR system works similarly to tool retention in the spindle and includes an automatic release of draw connections, simplifying the process. It is available for all standard spindle nose configurations, ranging from A2-5 through A11 and flatback spindles, with a through-hole design option for through-spindle bar feeding operations, adding versatility for different machining needs.

The CSC Contactless Stroke Control system offers a smart solution for automating the clamping process, eliminating the need for manual adjustment of proximity switches during each workholding clamp changeover. It provides real-time confirmation of part-clamping positions and stroke measurement, offering digital feedback and data on stroke positions, workpiece dimensions, and machine tool CNCs. This system helps prevent potential issues, such as scrap and tool damage, by ensuring that clamping is correctly confirmed before machining. Additionally, the CSC system is compatible with most CNC workholding devices and can be retrofitted to older machines, enhancing its flexibility and application across various setups.

These advanced systems from Speedgrip Chuck Co. not only enhance workholding efficiency but also contribute to increased productivity, reduced downtime, and improved machining accuracy across a wide range of industrial applications.
