Siemens Introduces AI-Powered Engineering Copilot to Automate Production Workflows!

Monday 29 December 2025, 7:08:11 AM

Siemens has unveiled Engineering Copilot TIA, a generative AI–powered assistant designed to automate and accelerate engineering workflows within the TIA Portal environment. Built to operate directly alongside Siemens’ flagship automation engineering platform, the new tool enables engineers to execute complex tasks using natural language instructions, significantly reducing the time and effort required for repetitive and rule-based engineering activities.

Delivered as a managed service, the beta version of Engineering Copilot TIA integrates seamlessly with TIA Portal versions 19 and 20. Once activated, the Copilot can automatically generate, modify, and validate project elements directly inside the engineering environment. This allows automation engineers to shift their focus away from routine configuration and coding work and toward higher-value tasks such as system optimization, innovation, and process improvement.

The Engineering Copilot TIA is designed to autonomously handle a wide range of engineering functions. Its capabilities include code generation and testing, visualization development, project localization, and workflow automation. In addition, the Copilot provides configuration support for hardware and drive systems, helping engineers quickly align project settings with application requirements. Context-aware guidance within the TIA Portal further supports users by offering relevant recommendations and assistance as they work.

A key strength of the Copilot lies in its flexibility. Engineers can enable or disable specific AI capabilities depending on project needs, ensuring that automation remains transparent and under user control. This selective approach allows teams to adopt AI-driven assistance at their own pace while maintaining confidence in system behavior and outcomes.

By autonomously executing time-consuming and repetitive engineering steps, the Engineering Copilot TIA helps shorten development cycles, improve consistency, and reduce the likelihood of manual errors. These benefits are particularly valuable in today’s manufacturing landscape, where increasing system complexity, skill shortages, and pressure to reduce time-to-market are pushing companies to rethink traditional engineering workflows.

Commenting on the launch, Rainer Brehm, COO of the Automation business and CTO at Siemens Digital Industries, said the Engineering Copilot TIA represents a fundamental shift in how engineers interact with automation software. He noted that by enabling autonomous execution of repetitive tasks, Siemens is empowering engineers to work more efficiently and confidently, while freeing up valuable time for high-impact work. According to Brehm, reducing engineering effort and development time is becoming increasingly critical as industrial companies compete in fast-moving and technology-driven markets.

With Engineering Copilot TIA, Siemens is positioning generative AI as a practical productivity tool for industrial automation, marking an important step toward more intelligent, autonomous, and efficient engineering environments.
