Siemens Digital Industries Software has unveiled the winners of its second annual Techcellence Awards, a prestigious event held during Realize LIVE Americas 2025 in Detroit. The awards recognize companies and individuals who have demonstrated groundbreaking contributions in driving transformation, innovation, and sustainability through digital technology. The Techcellence Awards celebrate leaders who not only embrace change but actively lead it, making significant strides in industries worldwide.
The Sustainability Impact Award was presented to BorgWarner Inc., a global leader in sustainable mobility solutions based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Known for their innovative and electrified mobility solutions, BorgWarner has been instrumental in advancing decarbonization and energy efficiency practices, helping reduce emissions across various sectors. Their commitment to sustainability is evident through their goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. The company has leveraged Siemens technologies to make measurable environmental and social impacts, especially in reducing emissions and promoting energy-efficient operations across the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Emissions Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
The Digital Transformation Award went to SENAI, Latin America’s largest professional and technological education institution, based in Brazil. SENAI has transformed its educational and manufacturing capabilities by leading the Techub project, which focuses on smart manufacturing for lithium batteries. The project aligns with SENAI’s long-term vision of building a closed-loop, digitally enabled manufacturing ecosystem in Brazil. The initiative aims to produce lithium batteries for hybrid electric vehicles locally, significantly impacting Brazil’s automotive industry and the global sustainability movement.
The Community Champion Award recognized Peter Mendez, a Solution Architect at General Atomics and a Mendix Solution Architect. Mendez is an active contributor to the Mendix community and has been programming since 1996, gaining expertise in various programming languages. His contributions to the Siemens community include providing valuable advice, answers, and insights to peers, sharing his knowledge at events, and creating publications that help others optimize Siemens products.
