SEIL Energy and NIEPID Partner to Launch Inclusive Sports Academy in Nellore!
SEIL Energy India Limited, one of the country’s leading independent power producers, has entered into a significant partnership with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) to establish an Inclusive Sports Academy (ISA) in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The academy will be developed at the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), marking a major step toward enhancing sports accessibility for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supported through SEIL Energy’s CSR allocation of ₹4.5 crore, the project includes constructing a modern, all-weather stadium designed to host a wide range of para-sports and special sports events.
The Inclusive Sports Academy is envisioned as a dedicated hub for training, talent development, and competitive exposure for Divyangjan. Beyond infrastructure, SEIL Energy will fund coaching staff, provide specialised training equipment, and support facility maintenance for the first year—ensuring that the academy begins operations with a strong foundation. Designed to nurture sporting talent across various disciplines, the facility will serve as a catalyst for increased participation and improved performance among athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Speaking on the initiative, Janmejaya Mahapatra, CEO of SEIL Energy India Limited, emphasized that true progress lies in empowering every section of society. He noted that equal access to opportunities—whether in education, employment, or sports—forms the cornerstone of inclusive nation-building. Mahapatra highlighted the company’s commitment to social development and reiterated that SEIL Energy’s efforts consistently aim to uplift communities and support meaningful, long-term change. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with NIEPID would open new avenues for Divyangjan, helping them discover their potential and build confidence through structured sports engagement.
