Sandvik Appoints Johanna Kreft as New General Counsel!

Sandvik, a global leader in materials technology, has announced the appointment of Johanna Kreft as its new executive vice president and general counsel, effective October 13, 2025. Kreft, who is currently serving as general counsel at Alleima, will also become a member of Sandvik’s Group Executive Management, further solidifying the company’s leadership in legal and corporate governance.

Johanna Kreft brings over 15 years of experience within Sandvik, making her a well-suited candidate for the role. Prior to the spin-off of Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) into Alleima in 2022, Kreft held several key positions, including Business Area General Counsel at SMT, Chief Legal Counsel at SMT, and in-house counsel at Sandvik AB. Her comprehensive background in legal affairs, coupled with her extensive knowledge of Sandvik’s operations, positions her to make an immediate impact in her new role.

Stefan Widing, President and CEO of Sandvik, expressed confidence in Kreft’s appointment, stating, “Johanna Kreft has proven strong leadership skills, experience from developing a Legal function at a listed company, and extensive knowledge of Sandvik. I am convinced that she will be a very good fit for the role and that she will be a strong addition to the Group Management.”

Kreft will be stepping into the position previously held by Åsa Thunman, who is leaving Sandvik to pursue a similar position at the Swedish project development and construction group, Skanska. The leadership transition represents a significant move for Sandvik as it continues to grow and strengthen its global business operations.

With her extensive experience in legal and corporate governance, Kreft is expected to lead Sandvik’s legal team through the complexities of the ever-evolving global business landscape.
